Lake Keowee, South Carolina Real Estate and Community Info.

Located in the mountainous Pendleton district of South Carolina, Lake Keowee is a gorgeous, man-made waterway joining the Keowee River and the Little River. Around 25miles long, with over 300 miles of branching shoreline, Lake Keowee real estate offers a year-round recreational lifestyle.

Attractions for residents and visitors alike include the scenic trails and sites at the Keowee-Toxaway State Park in Pickens County. The park offers back country and paved campsites, as well as cabin lodging. With several picnic shelters as well as fishing and boat access to the lake, the park is a favorite spot for families and big groups. Hiking can be done on the 4.2 mile Raven Rock hiking trail or the shorter Natural Bridge hiking trail, or on the short interpretive loop trail.

Boasting clear, warm waters, Lake Keowee is a fisherman’s dream. In one day, you might toss out a crank bait and hook onto a catfish, crappie, small mouth bass, bream, striped bass or bluegill. The clear waters allow you to see the catch of the day as your reel it in – kids love it! Despite the lake’s popularity, one seldom feels crowded with all of the little coves and turns along the shore. Or hire a fishing guide and get grand tour of Lake Keowee while catching your limit. Public boat ramps are located at Fall Creek, Crow Creek, Keowee Town and Mile Creek. On the lower portion of Lake Keowee, ramps are available at Stamp Creek, High Falls, Warpath, Cane Creek and South Cove.

At the southern end of Lake Keowee, two miles north of US 123 in Seneca, you’ll find the headquarters for the Keowee Sailing Club. Founded in 1972, the Keowee Sailing Club is a self-help sailing club with over 200 members that share in maintaining the facilities. Through races, pleasure cruises, skill building, and social events members are able to share in the joy of sailing on beautiful Lake Keowee. The Keowee Sailing Club hosts races throughout the year, including the “Grits & Haggis Regatta” and the “Bare What You Dare Race” in early June, as well as summer camps for kids and workshops for newcomers.

Although there are several public access points and parks, such as the Keowee-Toxaway State Park, owning Keowee lake view or lakefront property is the best way to enjoy all that Lake Keowee has to offer. Imagine waking up to a gorgeous lakeside sunrise, or embarking on an afternoon paddle around the shore. You’ll fall in love with the mild climate and lush forest trails that lead away from the lake and into the Blue Ridge Mountains. Join a community of nature lovers, where new friends are just a boat ride away.
